NOVEMBER 13TH: WHEN ARE READING BREAKS A GOOD IDEA(SUGGESTED BY LYDIA @ LYDIA SCHOCH)
Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books. It is hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. It is where different bookish topics are discussed, explained and ruminated. Different opinions are shared and blog hopping is encouraged too.
I joined this book meme because a topic could lead to different answers. It helps me share my thoughts while being educated by other posts too. Aside from this, I get to reflect on topics which interest me. Some people would not agree with my answers but that is okay, each to his own.

Reading is a hobby I do and like the most. However, despite my like for it, reading does get tiring. I take breaks from it. Usually, I would read other mediums like manga, webtoons or fanfiction just to add variety to my reading. However, there are times where I take a break from reading. This happens most especially when a reading slump is slowly creeping in. When this happens, I concentrate on other hobbies which I like. My other hobbies are watching movies, anime or k-drama and answering sudoku. The duration of my reading break would be for a week or more. During breaks, I also use the time to plan what I want to do with this blog and plan my next read. Also, it is the time to center myself and create personal and reading goals. I appreciate breaks since it forces me to reflect on my progress not just in reading but in life too.
I do recommend taking reading breaks. Reading as a hobby is not a chore so breaks are essential. It is suppose to be enjoyed. Although, reading is meant for relaxing, some treat it as work. If this is the case, a book slump would eventually happen. As for me, taking reading breaks has helped lessen the impact of a book slump. Due to reading breaks, I have time to make a plan on how to read more books. This has helped me a lot when achieving my goodreads reading challenge every year. Also, during reading breaks I get to sleep more. This helps me charge up and have the energy to read more books too. The want to read is like a machine, it needs to be maintained and one way to maintain efficiency is by resting.

Lately, my reading progress is not great. I am currently almost having a reading slump. Even if this is so, I still try to read a few pages from a book. I still enjoy reading but my pace has slowed down. Currently, I have been reading 3 books at the same time. This is my way of reading and it gives me a lot of options on what I want to read for the day.
My post is late because I needed to ruminate on the topic more.
Question: Do you take reading breaks?
Thank you for reading and God Bless!

lets be friends..
I do find that I can take an effective break from reading regular novels by reading manga! I recently read all of Black Butler and practically devoured it. It’s good to have some variety.

Nice, I have only watched the anime of Black Butler.

I adored the anime too, but I wish they’d release a remake that covers the entire story. My favourite arc never got animated.

That is usually the case, some arcs are not animated. But sometimes they make fillers too. Is the manga better?

I think it’s better because the story seems to go somewhere and the art is just beautiful in a way the anime never fully captures.
