2021 reading reflection

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books. It is hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. It is where different bookish topics are discussed, explained, and ruminated. Different opinions are shared and blog hopping is encouraged too.

I joined this book meme because a topic could lead to different answers. It helps me share my thoughts while being educated by other posts too. Aside from this, I get to reflect on topics that interest me. It is also a post where everyone gets to disagree to agree.

A lot has happened last year. 2021, surprised me in a lot of ways. My personal life changed, I think I grew more this year. I learned to adapt and accept things I cannot control. As for reading, I was able to reach my reading goal 1 month ago. I have been bumping it up to accommodate my other reads. I have read 62 books for this year. Compared to my goal, I am 18 books short. It is okay, I think finishing a book is an accomplishment in itself, may it be one or more books. Also for my blogging, I was not able to top up last year’s views. I had a 3-month hiatus which made me lose some ground. It is disappointing but I gained something else. It is also sad, that I have bought more books than I could read. my justification for this is I want to help local second-hand booksellers. I have a larger book pile now compared to before because of this.

In the latter half of the year, I have tried scheduling my blog posts. It has helped me a lot. I don’t procrastinate as much as before. I have more time to do other things I like. Also, being organized helps my mind declutter and stuff. I like doing this and hopefully next year the habit would continue. Also, in reading as usual I’ll be prioritizing book series I have to finish. I have a lot of books I want to read and can’t because of the backlog. Having breaks also is important, hence my reliance on scheduling posts. Same as 2021, I plan to read more the books which I have and lessen my expenses. Also, to read other novels from other genres.

Looking back, I would have been consistent with blogging if I started scheduling posts. I will continue with this since it works. Also, I kept reminding myself that blogging should not be a chore to do. This made me realize that I needed to organize myself more, hence my book bullet journal. When I started to do this, it has helped me with my daily life. I have set my Goodreads reading goal to 50 books this year. Hopefully, I would bump it up by the half of the year. As for 2021, a lot of things happened but with my reading and blogging yet it is still a good year.

I think this is fitting for my first post for 2022.
